NayborleeAn arts night with your neighbors: what’s happening at Oglethorpe
A concert, a gallery afternoon or a play can give neighbors a simple reason to spend time together.

It is easier to invite someone along when there is already a plan: a place to meet, something to watch or hear, and no living room to tidy first. Oglethorpe University’s fall arts program offers several starting points for neighbors around Brookhaven, from a free concert to a museum afternoon.
The choice need not please an entire group. Ask one or two people which date works, share the organizer’s link, and agree on a meeting spot. Having something to talk about afterward can be enough.
Music for a shared evening
On October 22, the Fall Music Gala brings video-game music to Conant Performing Arts Center. Oglethorpe’s orchestra, choirs and jazz ensemble are on the program. The university says admission is free and the public is welcome. For a household where one person knows the games and another loves live music, it could be a useful meeting point. Read the university’s program introduction.
A week later, the Jazzy Petrels perform at Town Brookhaven. That concert is off campus, so make sure everyone has the right destination. You can invite neighbors to meet for the music without turning the evening into a larger commitment.
A museum afternoon or a night at the theatre
Oglethorpe University Museum of Art’s November 7 Community Day offers free admission, live music and family activities. A daytime visit may suit neighbors who cannot make an evening performance. On an ordinary visit, museum general admission is $5; Community Day’s free entry is a specific occasion, not the everyday admission policy. See the museum’s fall announcement.
In November, Conant hosts Cyrano de Bergerac, Edmond Rostand’s play in Martin Crimp’s adaptation. Pick a performance together before buying tickets. The museum also hosts the Skylight Concert Series program Voices Within on November 22. Its afternoon timing overlaps the final Cyrano performance; treat them as alternatives.

Make the invitation easy to answer
Try a specific invitation in your community: “I’m thinking of Jazz Night at Town Brookhaven on October 29. Would anyone like to meet for the music? It’s free, and the organizer lists 7:30–9 p.m. Here’s the event link.” Once someone says yes, choose an exact meeting point and decide whether you are travelling together or meeting there.
For campus events, Oglethorpe lists its address as 4484 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta, GA 30319. Its visitor guidance says campus visitor parking is free. That guidance does not cover off-campus Town Brookhaven. Check campus directions and parking.
Keep Oglethorpe’s arts calendar handy for times, tickets and visitor details. You can also find your Nayborlee community to make a plan with neighbors, or return to Arts Around Atlanta for other outings.
Before you go
Do we need to be connected to Oglethorpe to attend?
The Fall Music Gala and Town Brookhaven Jazz Night are public events, and the museum welcomes visitors. Check each event’s official page for tickets and entry requirements; university-only ticket benefits do not apply to all visitors.
Which outings are free?
The October 22 gala, October 29 Jazz Night and November 7 OUMA Community Day are advertised as free. Ordinary museum general admission is $5. Check the official theatre and Skylight concert pages for their ticket details.
Can we attend both November 22 performances?
Do not plan on both: Cyrano starts at 2 p.m. and its listing runs to 5 p.m.; Voices Within starts at 3 p.m. Choose one, or see Cyrano on another listed date.
Where should we check for changes?
Use Oglethorpe’s arts calendar and the individual organizer links below before leaving. Confirm the gala’s start time directly: published listings have differed. For access needs or seating questions, contact the venue before booking.
